In this article I will talk about how I came to the name for my freelancing business ‘Inspire Me 24/7’ and also the logo design process that I used to design the logo that you see above.
I decided that Inspire Me 24/7 would be my business name. I could have chose my name, Dean Harris, but I wanted it to be creative and memorable. I used the initials to make a logo and you can see the sketches below of me trying to get I, M and 24/7 to work together. I scanned the sketches, which can be seen below.
From these sketches, I had the idea of trying to make the initials IM24/7 into typographic and after a bit of experimenting I got it to work.Throughout the whole process, I managed to integrate the 24/7 into one initial and I thought that was ingenious.
After getting the initial idea I experimented in Adobe Illustrator with different typefaces, sizes, proportions, etc. Which you can see in the picture below. I did this to see what typefaces worked and what line widths and combinations worked best together.
At this time I received feedback from peers and from forums and many people told me they really enjoy how I integrated the ‘i’ with ‘m’ and ‘2’, ‘4’, and ‘7’ for Inspire Me 24/7. I decided that my final piece would be the picture below.
